Tribute to Scott Lisney, 56, of Bury St Edmunds, who has died following incident at St Olaves precinct

Tribute has been paid to a Bury St Edmunds man who died this week following a reported serious assault at the weekend.

The family of Scott Lisney, 56, said today: “We are saddened by the sudden loss of our Scott, who was a much-loved son, brother, father and uncle.

“He was a kind-hearted man who would do anything for anybody and was a much-loved character in the community who was full of fun and a smart and snappy dresser, well known for wearing his suits.

“We are all feeling a strong sense of loss from the hole that has been left, but we would like to thank everybody for their kind words.

“We would now request time to grieve at this difficult moment.”

Police were called at 8.05pm on Saturday following reports a man in his 50s had been assaulted at the St Olaves precinct, on the Howard estate, in Bury.

On Tuesday, police confirmed Mr Lisney had died. The incident is being treated as a homicide investigation and officers are working with the Crown Prosecution Service to progress the investigation.

Andrew Allen, 54, of Severn Road, Bury, was remanded in custody at a previous hearing, having been charged with grievous bodily harm.

He is next due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on August 26.
