Two people taken to West Suffolk Hospital after Fishwick Corner, Thurston, two-vehicle crash




Two people were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash at a village accident blackspot.

Police, the fire service and the ambulance service were called to Fishwick Corner, in Thurston, at around 11am yesterday after the collision.

A spokesperson for the fire service said two fire crews were sent to the scene and three people were injured.

The road was closed for the recovery of the vehicles, a police spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said two ambulances were sent to the scene and transported two patients to West Suffolk Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Bloor Homes has committed to creating a staggered junction, in place of the current crossroads, and has been approved by planners, ahead of a 210 home development off nearby Beyton Road.

However, Thurston villagers have said the plans for safety improvements at Fishwick Corner are ‘not fit for purpose’.

Suffolk County Council said in a planning report at the time of the proposal that it felt a staggered junction at Fishwick Corner ‘delivers sufficient mitigation’.
