Compiegne Way and Nowton Road in Bury St Edmunds set to reopen after major flooding with repairs planned for later this month




Two Bury St Edmunds roads look set to reopen today after flooding on Friday cause emergency closures to be put in place.

Compiegne Way was closed early on Friday morning after heavy rain and snow caused major flooding.

This main road remained closed all weekend, but today Suffolk Highways have confirmed teams have cleared the standing water and, following a final sweep of the location to remove any remaining silt, the closure will be removed.

A spokesperson confirmed repairs to the drainage pumps along the road, which has seen ongoing issues with floods, are due to the begin on 20 March.

Meanwhile, the emergency closure along Nowton Road will also be removed, following a tidy up.

The spokesperson said it is hoped this road will be open by the end of the day.
