Two teenagers arrested in connection with alleged serious sexual assault in Bury St Edmunds bailed




Two teenage boys arrested in connection with an alleged serious sexual assault on a young woman in Bury St Edmunds have been released on bail.

Police are investigating the incident which reportedly happened at about 1am yesterday in Winthrop Road.

An 18 year old and a 17 year old were arrested and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

The pair have since been released on bail until Wednesday, July 7 pending further enquiries.

Yesterday, a Suffolk Police spokesman said they were treating the case as an isolated incident as the victim and suspects were understood to be known to each other.

A footpath between Winthrop Road and Constable Road was cordoned off.
