VIDEO: Crowds gather on Bury’s Angel Hill for remembrance parade and service
Crowds of people gathered on Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds for a parade and service to remember ‘those who made the supreme sacrifice in time of war’.
The parade led by the RAF Honington Voluntary Band and featuring service personnel, veterans, cadet forces, scouts, cubs and guides marched through the Abbey Gate.
They headed to the war memorial where they were joined by various dignitaries including the Mayor of St Edmundsbury Cllr Julia Wakelam and Bury St Edmunds MP Jo Churchill for a service.
There were prayers to ‘remember with thanksgiving those who made the supreme sacrifice for us in time of war’ followed by the Last Post, a two minutes silence and the Reveille.
Wreaths were then laid at the memorial.
The parade was followed by a service at St Mary’s Church.
