The homecoming parade marks the end of Operation Herrick, the code name under which all British operations in the Afghanistan conflict were conducted since 2002.

The Honington-based regiment was one of the last to leave the war-torn country on October 27 last year.

Once at Charter Square, Operational Service Medals were presented by Air Chief Marshall Sir Stephen Dalton, former Chief of the Air Staff, and Air Marshall Sir John Kemball, representing the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk.

A commemorative service was then held at the Cathedral to remember those who died.
