Stowmarket Police arrest man from Ipswich after a chase through Thurston

A wanted man who tried to run away from police in Thurston has been remanded in custody.

On Tuesday, officers from Stowmarket Police were on patrol when they attempted to stop a vehicle, which they believed was linked with the supply of drugs.

After trying to evade the police while in the vehicle two times, 39-year-old Joshua Barrington-Lee, from Ipswich, tried to get away on foot.

This was despite several calls for him to stop.

When officers caught him, he was arrested for not having insurance or an MOT and ‘driving otherwise in accordance with a license’.

A drugs wipe given at the scene tested positive for cocaine.

While Barrington-Lee was in custody, officers discovered he was wanted for breach of bail offences.

He has since been charged and remanded in custody for the three offences he was arrested for at the scene.

Barrington-Lee was also charged, and remanded in custody, for breach of court bail and ‘failure to provide’.

Yesterday (Wednesday), he appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody to return to crown court on a date to be decided.

Failure to provide relates to refusing to provide a breath, blood, or urine sample, when it is requested by police.
