Bury St Edmunds police make multiple arrests in town centre and Springfield Road





Police in Bury St Edmunds have made multiple arrests today including a man who ran away from officers.

A man who was wanted for two shoplifting offences was arrested this afternoon near Springfield Road.

He ran from officers but was intercepted and taken to custody.

The man was on a suspended sentence for shoplifting and he will be taken to court on Monday morning.

Earlier in the day, in a completely separate offence, another man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the town centre.

An officer said he was extremely abusive towards members of the public and to the police.

During his arrest, he was found to be in possession of cannabis.

The man will be charged for being drunk and disorderly in a public place and possession of cannabis.
