Bury St Edmunds’ Warehouse Clearance Superstore site in Anglian Lane on the market for leasehold after standing empty for several years

A warehouse superstore in Bury St Edmunds which has stood empty for a number of years is back on the market.

The Warehouse Clearance Superstore in Anglian Lane was listed for leasehold on Carter Jonas website two weeks ago.

The site was bought by St Edmundsbury Borough Council (which merged with Forest Heath to become West Suffolk Council) for £1.71 million in November 2018 and was to be part of the Western Way development which has now been axed.

The 22,599 Sq ft site was put on the market two weeks ago and a spokesman for West Suffolk Council said the site has received enquiries.

At the time of its purchase by the council in 2018, it wasn’t decided what its use would be.

It could have retained a commercial use or took on a public sector use, while it could also have formed part of the wider transport plan for the Western Way development by providing off-site car parking.

However, it was also in the pipeline that it could be let out to create an additional source of income for the council.

It is not yet know how much the site is listed for as it is to undergo refurbishment first.
