A Met Office weather warning has been issued for localised heavy rain and thunderstorms across the east this afternoon.
The Met Office says it is difficult to predict where the storms will strike but when they do they could bring as much as 30 or 40mm of rain in an hour, resulting in flooding.
The average East Anglian rainfall for the whole of May is 45mm.
The Met Office warns that hail and lightning strikes are also a danger and could disrupt power and rail services.
