Pupils from South Lee Prep School in Bury St Edmunds work with Denbury Homes to create design for show home

Schoolchildren have ‘impressed’ a developer with their designs for a child’s bedroom.

A total of 45 pupils from South Lee Prep School, in Bury St Edmunds, took part in the collaborative project with Denbury Homes to design a child’s bedroom for the new show home at the St Edmunds Gate development, in Bury.

After an evaluation by the team at South Lee, 10 designs have been shortlisted. They can be found on Denbury Homes’ social media accounts with the public invited to select their favourite.

The winner of the design challenge will be chosen by Denbury Homes and interior designers from Rendall & Wright.

Sara Raven, of Denbury Homes, said: “We are so impressed by the creativity of the children, it’s going to be very hard to choose a winner!

“I can’t wait to see one of the designs brought to life in our show home. Thanks to all the children who took part and to the team at South Lee Prep School for their enthusiasm.”

South Lee’s head Sarah Catchpole said the project had been an invaluable experience for the pupils.

She said: “Working alongside Denbury Homes has given them a fantastic opportunity to apply their creativity to a real-world challenge. We are all excited to see which design the public selects as the winner.”

The winning design will be used for a child’s bedroom in the townhouse show home at St Edmunds Gate, due to open in February 2025.
