H*llo K*tty Fun Land win BurySOUND 2025 at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds
A metal band has rocked their way to victory in a town’s popular music competition.
Bury St Edmunds-based trio H*llo K*tty Fun Land has won BurySOUND 2025 following the grand final at The Apex on Saturday night.
The band performed alongside the other heat winners, including Krumpets, Bi-Neural, The Dutch House and Doll Face as well as last year’s winners, Jaded Teeth.
On social media, H*llo K*tty Fun Land said: “We entered last minute and we did not expect this.
“If you would’ve told us in at our first gig in February that we would be winners of BurySOUND 2025 — we wouldn’t have believed you.
“We can’t wait for the future.”
As winners, H*llo K*tty Fun Land took home a prize bundle including £500 cash, Ray-Bans for each member from Vision Express, two days of recording at Punch Studios in Ipswich, two professionally mastered tracks from Digital Morpheus Mastering, a merch pack from BestBadges.co.uk, 20 free items from Bandmade Merch Co., bespoke branding and artwork from Leon at Phatsound Creative, a press support package for one single from Shy Cat Publicity, two days’ free van hire courtesy of Neon Street Touring, a headline slot at The Hunter Club in Bury and a year’s free registration with the East Anglian Festival Network.
Also celebrating success are the competition’s Rising Star Award winners, alt-folk band Krumpets, who won £250 cash, Ray-Bans for each member from Vision Express, a day’s recording at North Acre Studio with producer Jake Day as well as one track mastered by Digital Morpheus Mastering, 20 free merch items from Bandmade Merch Co. and a support slot at a Green Mind show in Cambridge.
The remaining finalists will receive recording session at The Bunker at West Suffolk College with producer Andy Guy, free rehearsal time through Neon Street Touring and a 10 per cent discount on bulk orders with Bandmade Merch Co.
Organiser Seymour Quigley said: “After five amazing heats, BurySOUND 2025 came to a fittingly incredible end with one of the greatest nights of live music we've ever had the honour of hosting.
“We want to give a huge thanks to all of the artists who took part in this year's competition for making it our musically strongest year to date.
“The East Anglian music scene is a brilliant place right now and we're proud to be a part of it.”
