Lakenheath post mistress Lisa Skinner releases debut album Mirrored Revenge with band Sorceress of Sin

A Lakenheath post mistress has shown that she can rock with the best of them after her band released their debut album.

Lisa Skinner, lead singer with melodic power metal outfit Sorceress of Sin, has run the High Street office for seven years and said the release of Mirrored Revenge was a bit of a surprise to some of her customers.

She said: “Some only know me for singing opera around here for a lot of charity events, so they had no idea I do this.

“They were a bit shocked but have also been so supportive in buying copies, though I have had to tell a few to be careful of their ears. Some in the village, who I had no idea were into this type of music, have also contacted us out of the blue to say they really liked it.”

Having sung and played in cover bands previously Lisa and her husband Paul, who is the drummer and helps in the post office, had wanted to start a band for a while.

Lisa, who is originally from Bury St Edmunds, said: “I have known our guitarist, Constantine Kanakis, for a long time and we first bounced the idea for Sorceress of Sin back in 2018.

“But it was not until the first lockdown, we thought now that we were all stuck at home we needed to focus on something and that is how it came together.”

Though the band have not been in the same room non-virtually yet, as the other members live all over the country, it has not stopped them bringing their album to life.

This has taken many Zoom chats, said Lisa, and recording their own parts before bringing it all together.

The 10-track piece has already been praised in Italian, Belgium and Portuguese metal magazines as well as selling copies as far away as Australia.

Lisa said: “We, as a band, are so grateful and amazed by the response so far, with those magazines even asking us when we would be coming over to play.

“It has been quite sweet that the album has gone out that far, from a little village like this. We really could not have done it though without so many supportive people here who it is impossible to thank enough and as much as we would like.”
