Weather warning issued as Storm Bert could bring 65mph winds to Suffolk

A weather warning has been issued in Suffolk as wind speeds could reach up to 65mph due to Storm Bert.

The Met Office has placed a yellow warning across the whole of the East of England from 8am to 9pm today.

Strong southwesterly winds will accompany heavy rain, easing later in the day, while gusts of 45 to 55mph are likely as exposed areas could potentially see 60 to 65mph.

The forecasters believe that Storm Bert could cause some disruption as delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and some short term loss of power is also possible.

Motorists are being advised to checking road conditions before driving and to amend travel plans if necessary.
