Met Office releases yellow and amber weather warnings for Bury St Edmunds region

Bury St Edmunds residents are braced for another weekend of strong winds as Storm Dennis takes over from where Storm Ciara left off.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind on Saturday and Sunday (February 15-16) for the eastern region.

Residents can take heart, however, that Suffolk and Norfolk do not have the amber warning that is in place for other parts of the country.

A spokesman for the Met Office East commented: "On Saturday, there is set to be rain and gales, severe along coasts, soon spreading northeast, due to Storm Dennis.

"Rain could be heavy and persistent at times, especially in the west, and then continuing overnight."

There is a similar outlook for Sunday. The maximum temperature is set to be 12°C on Saturday and 15°C on Sunday.

What to expect with a yellow warning

- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.

- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.

- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities are affected by spray and/or large waves.
