Plans for 150-home development in Mount Road, Bury St Edmunds, to be revealed at public exhibition

Plans for a new 150-home development in Bury St Edmunds are set to be revealed at an upcoming public exhibition.

A segment of land in Mount Road, on the edge of the Moreton Hall estate, could be transformed by developers Pigeon.

The proposed 150-home site would include 40 per cent affordable housing, equating to around 60 homes.

The developers said it is working with the landowner to bring forwards the plans for a sustainable, landscape-led development which also includes custom/self-build homes, areas of open space, green infrastructure and sustainable drainage.

Despite concerns about the site falling outside the current development boundary, Pigeon said the land is designated for residential use in the emerging West Suffolk Local Plan (site AP7), which is being examined and is expected to be adopted in summer 2025.

Residents on Moreton Hall received a letter from Pigeon over the weekend which invited them to view the draft proposals and ask questions to the project team at a public consultation.

This event is taking place on Friday, November 29 from 2.30pm to 7.30pm at Moreton Hall Community Centre.

On the same day, further details of the proposals will be shared online via www.landatmountroad.co.uk — but the website is currently unavailable until then.
