Brandon Market Square car parking investigated by Suffolk Highways

Suffolk Highways is investigating Brandon Market Square, where shoppers have been surprised to see cars parking.

The set town centre area has been 'access only' for several years. But the reported theft of a bollard, which blocked square, has seen motorists moving in.

Brandon Town Council is aware of the issue and is asking West Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council's highways department to look into it.

A free car park is only fifty yards away- but locals have raised concern on social media that for as long as market square parking is unregulated by an officer, it will continue.

A county council spokesman said: "Suffolk Highways has received details of the reported missing bollard on Market Square, Brandon.

"The location will be inspected this week to determine necessary action however, in the meantime, any parking concerns should be reported to and addressed by Suffolk Constabulary.

"Following the inspection, Brandon Town Council will be issued with a full update."
