Ed Byrne has a #preshowpint at The Old Cannon Brewery in Bury St Edmunds before his Tragedy Plus Time show at The Apex
A well-known Irish stand-up comedian and actor has returned to a Suffolk town and stopped by one of its pubs before performing there as part of his UK tour.
Ed Byrne, best known for his multiple appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe and being a former panelist on hit BBC TV show Mock the Week, stopped by The Old Cannon Brewery, in Bury St Edmunds, tonight before his show at The Apex for one of his dates on his extended Tragedy Plus Time tour.
The funny man, who has enjoyed huge critical and popular success with his comedy in the UK and Ireland, posted a picture of himself drinking at the Cannon Street drinking hole with fellow comic and his support act, Amy Matthews.
Ed regularly posts his #preshowpint pictures during his tour dates and in October last year, when he was in Bury St Edmunds on another date of his current tour, he went to the Nethergate Tap Room in The Traverse in the town.
Talking to Suffolk News’ Six of the Best Podcast in February this year, he said he had just started his #preshowpint pictures to show people what he was doing on social media, but it then became ‘a bit of a thing’.
“It started on Instagram because I think at the time I was shut out of my twitter account because I had been hacked and with Instagram being about the pictures, we started doing that,” he said.
“Occasionally I get a free beer or an invitation to come to a certain pub, so it has become quite nice and as I always tag in the place, the bar and the make of the beer I am drinking I am now followed by a load of beer bloggers and websites.”
This is not the last Suffolk date on Ed’s tour, as he will be at Ipswich's Corn Exchange on December 11.
