Bury St Edmunds stabbing: Woman released on bail and man still in hospital under arrest

A woman has been released on bail and a man remains under arrest in hospital after a stabbing in Bury St Edmunds.

Police were called at 8.10pm on Sunday to a report that a man in his 40s was assaulting a man in his 60s at a house in Out Westgate.

A woman then allegedly attacked the man in his 40s.

Police discovered a man had suffered a number of stab wounds to his legs.

A 56-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

She has since been released on bail until October 25.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries were not life threatening and his condition is stable.

He remains in hospital under arrest.

A man in his 60s was also taken to hospital for treatment to an eye injury and was discharged.

Detectives are treating it as an isolated incident, with all involved understood to be known to each other.

Police scenes were in place at the address in Out Westgate and at a property in Castle Road, which is linked to the assault investigations.
