West Suffolk Sands memorial in Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds, will remember all the ‘precious babies gone too soon’
A baby loss memorial is set to be unveiled at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds this weekend.
West Suffolk Sands, a charity that supports bereaved families after the loss of a baby, will unveil a wooden statue next to a memorial bench.
Jessica Rudd, from West Suffolk Sands, said: “The bench and memorial are in memory of all the precious babies gone too soon.
“We hope this will provide a special place for families, for them to be able to take time to sit and remember their much loved baby or babies, while feeling comforted that they are not alone.”
The ceremony will take place at 2pm on Saturday, with families able to find the location of the statue using the what3words location of; emotional nerves and existence.
There will also be a raffle and Bury St Edmunds Sands United FC will be playing a special match on the astro turf pitch, also at Nowton Park) from 2.30pm - 3.30pm.
Children will also be give the opportunity to take part in the special match.
The Crafty Foxes will be hosting activities for children, who will be able to make a lantern or create some sand art.
West Suffolk Sands support families after the loss of a baby, whether their loss is recent or from long ago.
The charity, which raised funds for the memorial, has been running for nearly six years.
It holds group meetings which offer families emotional support, comfort, and information, if their baby has died during pregnancy, at birth or soon after.
