Woolpit's £80,000 playground unveiled including zip-wire and trampoline

An £80,000 playground was unveiled last Friday in Woolpit.

The park, off Church Street, includes a new climbing frame, zip-wire and floor trampoline.

Ian Belham, chairman of the playground trustees, said: “It is really important, we have got several families who can’t get to any other villages because they haven’t got transport. We haven’t had a playground for two years.”

Ian Lavender, former Dad’s Army TV actor, who lives in the village, was invited to cut the tape.

Children from Woolpit Primary School entered a competition to help design the play-area.

Funds were raised from the Woolpit Poorsland charity, National Lottery fund, the parish council, local businesses and the community.
