Bury St Edmunds shopping centre works progress at site of former Topshop in the arc

Work is progressing to split the former Top Shop in Bury St Edmunds into two units.

Glazing was installed on Monday by Sealite Group as part of the refurbishment.

The arc Shopping Centre branch of Topshop/Topman closed in February 2021 when online fashion retailer ASOS bought the brand but not its shops in the wake of the Arcadia retail empire collapse.

Last year, plans to divide the unit into two, were approved by West Suffolk Council.

Workers began completing strip-out works of the old shopfit last month.

A spokesman for the arc said the work, on behalf of the shopping centre’s landlords, is to get the unit ‘initially ready for potential new tenants’.
