Construction of massive tomato greenhouse near Bury St Edmunds well underway
Construction of a tomato greenhouse which will be bigger than the O2 arena is well underway.
The world-first low carbon glasshouse is being built in Ingham in a £120 million project.
Work on the Greencoat Capital development started towards the end of last year and this picture shows the 13 hectare roof.
A spokesman said they remain on their original programme and construction is expected to be completed this autumn.
The development will be warmed using waste heat from the nearby Fornham Anglian Water recycling centre.
The greenhouse is expected to provide 135 jobs.
It is one of two greenhouses in the area being built by Greencoat Capital, with the other outside Norwich.
The company believes it will be able to produce 12 per cent of the tomatoes grown in this country.
