Hadleigh United sign Josh Folkes from Ipswich Wanderers who won promotion from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division last season
Hadleigh United have completed the signing of Josh Folkes from Ipswich Wanderers.
The forward joins the Brettsiders with plenty of experience as he won the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division with Wanderers last season.
Last campaign he racked up 38 appearances across all competitions – 25 times in the starting line-up – scoring 11 goals in the process.
One of the 13 times he did come off the bench sparked one of his most memorable appearances for Wanderers, as he bagged a brace to turn their top of the table clash with Thetford Town on it’s head, where Ipswich Wanderers ran out 3-2 winners.
Hadleigh United boss Steve Holder said: “When we knew Folkesy was available, like most teams we showed interest. Josh’s experience will be great for us. With Liam Wales potentially out a long time with a knee injury, and waiting for MRI that could be an ACL, it was a position I was keen to strengthen.
“Josh knows a few of the players and after coming down last Saturday to watch could see we play some good football that can suit his game. So was happy to get this one over the line.”
Hadleigh currently sit 10th in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division after 13 games played and Folkes will go straight into their squad for their trip to Kirkley & Pakefield tomorrow (3pm).
Folkes becomes the second player to join Hadleigh from Wanderers in the space of a few weeks as striker Joel Glover made his return to the Brettsiders.
“Joel was a no brainier for me one of the best strikers at this level. Everyone at the club likes Joel his a great bloke on and off the pitch and hopefully will add goals that we are missing at then minute,” said Holder.
“After speaking to Glen Driver over last few weeks, we all agreed it was best for Joel to come back to Hadleigh and get some more game time than he may of done at Wanderers, with them bringing in a few new faces. We are very happy to get Joel back.”
