FA Cup first qualifying round draw throws up away ties for Needham Market and AFC Sudbury while Bury Town host higher-league opposition




The draw for the first qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup was released by the game's governing body this afternoon.

Bury Town, who defeated Cogenhoe United 1-0 on Saturday , have been handed a home clash with Step 3 outfit Brightlingsea Regent, while both Needham Market and AFC Sudbury will be on their travels.

The Marketmen will head to Hitchin with Sudbury – 4-2 victors at the weekend – make the trip to Lincolnshire to take on Stamford – conquerors of Diss Town in the previous round.

Soham Town Rangers will head to lower-league Hashtag, with Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division sides Ely City and Long Melford both at home to Biggleswade and Cheshunt respectively.

Haverhill Rovers' reward for dumping out higher-league Wisbech Town is another clash against Step 4 opposition in Maldon & Tiptree.

Marc Abbott's side have fond recent memories of taking on the Isthmian League North Division outfit, having knocked them out of the competition a couple of seasons ago.

Mildenhall Town will go to Leighton Town and Stowmarket Town head down the A14 for a clash against Cambridge City, while Brantham Athletic, Lowestoft Town and Leiston have all been dealt home ties.

St Ives Town will be the visitors to Brantham, while Lowestoft and Leiston take on Aveley and Biggleswade Town respectively.

All ties are due to be played the weekend commencing Monday, September 21.
