Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club director of rugby Jacob Ford to stand down at end of National League 2 East season

Jacob Ford will step down from his role as director of rugby at Bury St Edmunds following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

Ford initially joined the Wolfpack in March 2021 as head coach before also taking on the role of director of rugby that summer.

The head coach’s responsibility was handed over to Ben Penfold in June 2024 and now Ford will step down from his other position at the end of the current campaign.

A statement from the club read: “Jacob has been instrumental in driving positive change across the club. His leadership, dedication, and vision have been key in shaping the club’s progression over the past four seasons.

“During Jacob’s time at The Haberden, the Men’s first XV recorded their highest National League finish and has become known for its dynamic, fast-flowing, and high-scoring style of rugby, thrilling supporters and earning respect across the league. Beyond the senior squad, his impact has been felt throughout the club.

“As he prepares for his next chapter, Jacob leaves the club in a strong position having laid some exceptional foundations for the years ahead. While we will be sad to see him go, we are immensely grateful for his dedication, hard work, and passion for Bury St Edmunds Rugby during his tenure as our director of rugby.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jacob for his outstanding contributions and wish him the very best in his future endeavours. He will always be part of the #buryrugbyfamily and welcome to The Haberden.”

Bury, who lost 38-35 to Worthing last Saturday, are without a game this weekend.
