Rednall moves to within one match of world final
Katherine Rednall moved one step closer to retaining her World Indoor Bowls Championship crown after easing her way into Wednesday’s semi-finals.
The Stowmarket-based ace overcame Marion Purcell in straight sets at Potters Resort to set up a last four encounter against 17-year-old Victoria Bilson who overcame Laura Hawryszko in straight sets.
Another victory would see 19-year-old Rednall once again challenging in the final where she could meet either Amy Stanton, who beat Julie Forrest or Laura Thomas who defeated last year’s beaten finalist Rebecca Field.
n Meanwhile, the former Stowmarket High School pupil was denied the chance of double title glory after she and partner Mervyn King suffered a mixed pairs quarter-final defeat to Julie Forrest and Alex Marshall on Friday.
