Swimmers awarded for a successful year

Manfred Battle and Chloe Long won the top boy and top girl trophies when Stowmarket Swimming Club hosted their presentation night at Mendlesham Village Hall.

The pair won the most events in their age categories at November’s club championships.

Sylvia and Shaun Harrison won the coaches’ swimmers-of-the-year awards, while 16-year-old Calvin Coe was named best male for his dedication and achieving the most regional qualifying times.

The best female award went to 12-year-old Lija Radziunaite, based on her successfully swimming in her first regional championships in 100m backstroke.

The Paul Prowse Shield was presented to 12-year-old Finn Middleton for his tremendous effort and enthusiasm, while Jilly Hobson won the Clarke Trophy for being the most-improved swimmer with special needs.

Serafina Loft received the Catton Trophy for making the most progress in the last year in the under-10 age group, while the Skins female and male races were won respectively by Chloe Long and Aaron Lynch.

Club president Bobbie Wilson presented her award for services to the club to Sandra Chapman.

More than 34 club swimmers have qualified for the county championships in March.
