Bury Town youngster Ben Curtis joins Dean Grogan and Matt Hayden in signing for Lakenheath ahead of trip to Hadleigh United

Lakenheath’s ranks have been bolstered by the arrival of three new signings.

Two of the additions – Dean Grogan and Matt Hayden – are already well-known figures at the club, while Ben Curtis has joined on a month-long loan deal from higher-league Bury Town.

Centre-back Grogan left Lakenheath for Ely City in September 2023 after spending six years – over two spells – in the heart of the defence.

Like Grogan, striker Hayden has also had a couple of previous stints with the club – the most recent of which ended in 2018. Prior to that, the centre-forward, who started the ongoing campaign with Histon, was part of the Lakenheath side that won the Suffolk Senior Cup during the club’s days in the Cambridgeshire County League set-up.

As for young striker Curtis, he has signed for Lakenheath having made five appearances as a substitute for Bury this term.

Previously the forward helped Bury Town Under-18s to reach the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup – where they were defeated by Charlton Athletic – and also the final of the Suffolk FA Under-18 Cup.

All three players could feature for Lakenheath away at Hadleigh United on Saturday (3pm), which will see Steve Holder remain in interim charge as the process continues to find a permanent successor to recently-departed manager Trevor Collins.

Lakenheath are bottom of the early Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division standings after picking up two points from their first four outings.
