Jaynic, based in The EpiCentre, in Withersfield, near Haverhill, says long-term commitment the key for Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Award for Lifetime Achievement
‘A long-term commitment that creates long lasting community benefits, rather than short-term ‘in-out gains’.
That is what the sponsors of the lifetime achievement prize in the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards say they are looking for, as nominations open.
Jaynic, the land promotion and development company based at The EpiCentre, in Withersfield, near Haverhill, are sponsoring the award again this year, alongside the firm’s three-year headline sponsorship of the ceremony.
Last year’s winner – Daemmon Reeve, former chief executive of Treatt Plc – was a ‘true example’ of the spirit Jaynic is looking for in the award, said its managing diector Nic Rumsey, calling Mr Reeve a ‘hugely worthy winner’.
The Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards ceremony will take place on October 10 at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, when 12 other awards, alongside lifetime achievement, will be handed out.
Nic said: “Jaynic believes strongly in this award because it recognises those individuals who create success not just in a limited way or only for themselves, but within the wider community in which they operate.
“The lifetime achievement award criteria can involve job creation ensuring financial security for a local workforce, or it might recognise wider measures of achievement giving back benefits to the community, helping those less able to support themselves –whether financially or through training and mentoring – and supporting environmental initiatives.”
Jaynic has developed Suffolk Park, in Bury, and Gateway 14 business park, in Stowmarket.
Treatt had its headquarters developed by the company at the Bury site, which in the last 12 months has seen the opening of the new distribution warehouse for Bury’s other major occupier, Greene King. Later this year, construction work for a new state-of-the-art brewery will start, retaining hundreds of jobs in the town.
And on the ceremony itself, Nic said: “We are very much looking forward to the awards, which is the one time in the year that old friends and new get together to celebrate the awards and knit the business community closer together.”
