Woolpit couple’s Shady Baby tent causes a ‘sunsation’ by keeping children safe from harmful UV rays

A husband and wife team have been causing a ‘sunsation’ by designing a new product to help keep babies and children safe from harmful rays.

Phil and Jess O’Neill, from Woolpit, have launched a product called Shady Baby - a ‘sun-safe’ tent designed to provide ‘optimal protection’ for little ones during outdoor holidays, adventures, or even in the back garden.

The Shady Baby UV tent is already gaining lots of attention as the UK gets ready for the summer holidays.

Phil said: "As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of keeping our little ones safe while enjoying the great outdoors.

“We have had an overwhelming response to our products and aim to provide families with peace of mind and the freedom to create lasting memories under the sun.”

The ‘exclusive and patented tent’ works by instantly providing shade when fitted to a sun lounger or to the ground, once unpacked from its carry bag.

The couple were inspired by their own experiences as parents on their first family holiday when their daughter was six-months-old.

They embarked on a mission to address the need for effective sun protection solutions specifically for infants and young children.

In their spare time, the couple set out to create a product that would not only shield young ones from harmful UV rays and prevent babies rolling off a sunlounger or chair but also enhance the whole family’s outdoor experiences.

They designed the tent following extensive research and it now holds its own UK and EU patent.

They say it is ‘lightweight, durable, easy to setup’ during for beach outings, picnics, camping trips.

Phil said: “Launching this brand is also a bid to help educate families about the strength of the sun and how it’s become more dangerous in the last decade due to global warming.

“The sun’s harmful UV rays are simply more intense these days than when we were kids.”

Shady Baby Ltd also offers a range of sun-safety products such as wristbands and bracelets which have colour-changing technology to alert parents and children to the strength of the sun, so they can top-up with sun cream, if needed. They have set up a website to view the products at www.shadybaby.co.uk.

They hope to make ‘sun-safe adventures’ easier for families.
