Starfish Boutique: Barbados and Suffolk, which boasts celebrity clientele, launches in Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds
A high-end boutique selling clothing and accessories for a dream holiday has opened in town.
Starfish Boutique: Barbados and Suffolk, has launched in Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds.
It’s run by successful fashion entrepreneur Jayne Vintner, who has years of experience in the fashion industry.
“I ran the boutique, first on the Platinum Coast in Barbados, where I lived for 20 years,” said Jayne.
“I launched my own range of ladies and men’s resort wear clothes there and built it up to a globally recognised brand.”
Customers to Starfish Boutique Barbados included celebrities such as Jerry Hall, Justin Bieber and Lady Victoria Hervey, with whom Jayne collaborated for her Ladyship swimwear collection.
Last year, however, Jayne moved back to the UK so her son could pursue a career in horse racing in Newmarket, where she now lives.
After running a series of boutique pop-ups, she decided to look for somewhere permanent.
“The shop in Hatter Street appeared on my social media on a Thursday, I enquired about it on the Friday and had the keys by Monday,” said Jayne.
“It was the best match for my business with lots of independents in a lovely area of town.”
Starfish Boutique Barbados and Suffolk sells a range of clothing and accessories for those planning a holiday, whatever the season.
This includes Jayne’s own label, as well as clothing personally selected from Paris and Italy, jewellery handmade in Barbados and exclusive items for ‘posh’ dogs including velvet collars and leads and bow ties.
Clothing includes knitwear, jackets, maxi skirts, resort wear, sundresses, cardigans, fake fur coats, gloves, scarves and bags.
“I’ve included everything from cardigans to wear on the plane to clothing for the resort, and even lace wedding dresses to get married on the beach,” said Jayne.
“There are also handy items such as 20ml bottles of French perfume, which are perfect for travelling. The clothes I have chosen are all things I would wear myself and personally curated.
“I also have a range of makeup from Delilah, which is ethically made and cruelty free, including tinted makeup and bronzers for that holiday glow.
“I carried out a luxurious shop fit myself using upcycled furniture and also created a changing room.
“The feedback has been great with people saying it is the most beautiful shop they have been in, that it’s great to have another independent in town, and praising the collection.”
