Bury St Edmunds-based Denbury Homes appoints new managing director as it looks to triple the number of homes it builds
A developer has appointed a new managing director as it looks to triple the number of homes it builds.
Joshua Hopkins has been promoted to the role at Denbury Homes, based in Westley Bottom, Westley, Bury St Edmunds.
The promotion comes after the company has secured a £55 million funding package from HSBC.
It has also completed purchases of strategic development sites and grown its team to 60.
Joshua said: “I’m proud of how far we have come as Denbury Homes in the last couple of years, since rebranding.
“It’s been an exciting time, and we have a lot to look forward to as we pursue our growth plans and start to introduce ourselves to areas beyond our traditional heartland.”
The HSBC funding package will support the company as it looks to increase its build rate by 350 per cent. It hopes to be building up to 450 homes a year by 2029.
Currently Denbury Homes has developments in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.
Sales at the company’s flagship development – St Edmunds Gate in Bury St Edmunds - launched in January 2025. Sales have also recently launched at new sites in Essex.
Their projected growth will see the company opening further developments in Essex and exploring new opportunities in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, as well as Suffolk.
Most recently Joshua has been the company’s land director. He will continue to oversee this department alongside his new role.
Joshua’s father, James, founded the company, previously known as Hopkins and Moore, 40 years ago.
Joshua added: “Securing the right kind of land for our developments is the foundation of our success.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to build relationships with landowners, agents and planning teams.”
“When we rebranded to Denbury Homes, the energy was palpable.
“We have a long history in the area as Hopkins and Moore but the new chapter saw us embrace the challenge of a refresh.
“That feeling has carried through as we welcome new team members and look forward to the year ahead.”
In addition to its housebuilding, the company also supports local charities and communities through The Denbury Charitable Fund.
It has supported over 140 local charities and given out grants of more than £1.6 million.
The fund works closely with the Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire Community Foundations and other local and regional charities.
