Bury St Edmunds Pommodoro trattoria on Abbeygate Street, overlooking Abbey Gardens, offers ‘the essence of Italian cuisine’
A new restaurant has opened in Bury St Edmunds offering ‘the essence of Italian cuisine’.
Pommodoro Italian Trattoria has opened in Abbeygate Street, at the site of the former Really Rather Good café, overlooking the Abbey Gardens.
It is the new venture of Delil Simsek, who also runs Francela, a mediterranean, Greek and Turkish restaurant on Angel Hill.
Pommodoro also has an outdoor seating area for finer weather.
The restaurant offers freshly-made pizza, pasta and insalata.
It’s website says: “Welcome to our cosy corner of culinary bliss.
“At our pizza and pasta shop, we're passionate about crafting mouthwatering delights that tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving more.
“From our signature pizzas loaded with fresh, quality ingredients to our irresistible pasta dishes, each bite is a symphony of flavours.
“Come savour the essence of Italian cuisine with us today."
Mr Simsek says that the new Italian eatery is in addition to Francela, which is operating as usual.
The manager of the trattoria is a native of Naples.
Mike Kirkham, business support manager for Our Bury St Edmunds (BID), said on X (formerly Twitter):
“Great to see this lovely independent new Italian Trattoria now open for business.
“A great addition to the town centre and fabulous Abbeygate St/Angel Hill.”

Really Rather Good closed following the retirement of owners Annette and George Stanford, who ran the business for 10 years.
