Behind the scenes at Dough&CO, Bury St Edmunds's latest woodfired pizza outlet

A new pizza restaurant has been ‘very popular’ since it opened in Bury St Edmunds, despite Covid-19 restrictions forcing it to be a take-away for now.

Dough&Co Woodfired Pizza began trade on January 13 after moving into the former Patisserie Valerie site in Abbeygate Street.

Chris Sharman, chief executive, said: “Dough&Co Woodfired Pizza is an independently owned pizzeria, serving our own recipe woodfired pizza made by real chefs in a real oven using real ingredients. We provide value for money and restaurant quality service for our delivery customers.”

Bury becomes the fifth town the small enterprise has opened up in and the second in Suffolk after Sudbury.

All of the Dough&Co locations are in the east.

The management also looks after Burger Amour, which has also recently opened in Bury - next to the town’s Cineworld.

Mr Sharman said: “We have always looked for an opportunity in Bury but we had to find the right location to proceed. We chose Abbeygate Street due to being such a central, popular location in Bury.”

The menu contains a wide variety of salads, side dishes, pizzas, pasta dishes, drinks and puddings.

One of the aspects that marks out Dough&Co’s offering is the set menus on offer. These include ‘boys night in for two,’ which includes a selection of pizza, beer, dips and sides for £30, and the ‘girls night in for two,’ which swaps beer for wine.

The venture has created 32 jobs in Bury.

Mr Sharman added: “It is going very well. We are very grateful for all of the support received locally.”
