Bury St Edmunds pottery studio and shop, Claire’s House, will triple in size after move from Churchgate Street to Barton Road
A pottery studio and shop is set to more than triple in size.
Claire’s House, currently based in Churchgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, is moving to 1b Barton Road Trading Estate, on the outskirts of town.
The popular studio, which offers classes in pottery wheel throwing, hand-building, pottery painting and other creative disciplines, will more than triple in size from 750 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft.
Staff will also more than double, from three to seven, including owner and founder, former King Edward VI School art teacher, Claire Douglas.
Claire said: “We are so excited to announce Claire’s House new venue.
“Our new premises will allow us to offer more classes, courses and studio memberships to support and develop ceramicists in their practice.
“We are so happy to also welcome new staff members to our team and will be ready to show the public everything on offer over our grand opening.”
Claire’s House, in Churchgate Street, is still open until August 17.
Claire will be holding a ‘grand opening weekend’ for the new Barton Road location on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8, between 11am and 3am.
There will be a studio tour, drinks, nibbles, goody bags, pottery painting, play with clay, shop ceramics and demonstrations.
The studio also features a wall mural painted by local creative Joel Millerchip.
Claire saw her dream come when she launched her business in December 22.
Claire’s House also sells a range of pottery and ceramics, and features art work by local creatives, including, mugs, bowls, wax burners, plates and lifestyle products, such as prints, decorations, candles and fragrance.
The shop and studio’s motto is: To live creatively.

It offers a choice of courses, taster sessions, hand building drop in sessions, pottery painting, open studio sessions and memberships.
