Stowmarket business EO Charging named in Financial Times 1000 list

A Stowmarket business aiming to become a global leader in electric vehicle charging has seen its ambitions boosted by recognition from the Financial Times.

EO Charging, headquartered in Tomo House, in Tomo Road, has been named as the fastest-growing business in the electric vehicle sector by the FT.

And, in addition, it was named by the newspaper as number 30 overall on the FT 1000 list of Europe’s fastest growing companies in 2021.

EO joins other leading UK green businesses including Bulb Energy and Octopus Energy in the top 30.

Charlie Jardine, chief executive of EO, founded the company in 2015 with the aim of becoming the global leader in charging electric car and van fleets.

The strategy has so far focused on business fleets and has picked up clients including Ocado, Sainsbury’s, and DHL.

EO Charging is also one of the continent's fastest growing companies.

Mr Jardine said the fast growth ‘is continuing’.

“It’s great to be recognised in such a prestigious list and it’s rewarding for our team who have worked so hard to help us grow,” he said. “Our journey is still accelerating; we experienced record revenue growth in 2020 thanks to some major contract wins with global logistics and delivery companies in the UK and overseas.”

EO designs and manufactures electric vehicle charging stations and cloud-based charge-point management software. Their operation has been helped by sales of electric vans shooting up 64 per cent year-on-year in 2020.

Mr Jardine added: “Our measures give fleet owners a powerful motivation as they can see that petrol and diesel will not be an option in less than a decade, that charge-point infrastructure is being funded, and that there are financial incentives for going electric. With the home delivery sector thriving in the pandemic, businesses operating delivery fleets are looking to grow their fleets and switch to electric in the process.”
