Bury St Edmunds distillery, Alkemy, picks up sixth award in two years at the London Spirits Competition
A Bury St Edmunds distillery has picked up its sixth award.
Alkemy Distillery has won a silver medal at the London Spirits Competition for its sugar beet spirit – after scoring highly for quality, value, and packaging.
The distillery, a former Bury Free Press Business Award start-up award winner, was only founded by brothers Will and Rob Tapster in November 2022.
It has now won a total of six awards in competitions including The Global Spirit Masters, Global Awards and International Wine and Spirit Competition
Rob Tapster said: “We’re really pleased to have scored so highly in this competition. It’s one of the
most internationally recognised awards within the alcohol industry.”
Alkemy Distillery was recently also named as the Consumer Products StartUp of the Year’ at the 2024 East of England StartUp Awards.
Alkemy sugar beet spirit is made in the same way as rum, but uses sugar beet
molasses, instead of sugar cane, making it the only UK-grown rum in the world.
