Mr Barbers, on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, is celebrating its 10th year
A barbers shop, which has served thousands of customers, raised thousands for charity, as well as training a number of barbers, is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Mr Barbers, on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, was the first shop to open as part of the franchise group, in East Anglia, in October 2014.
Mr Barbers describes itself as a traditional style barber shop with a true local feel.
To celebrate, co-owners, Mark Lovell, Kerry Lovell and Jacob Gallally have plans for a new shop fit which will help to create a more simplistic and modern environment in the 17th century building.
Jacob Gallally said: “I’m so thankful to the people of Bury St Edmunds for supporting our business over the years.
“We have so many customers who have been visiting us since the day we opened and it’s great to have such a good reputation.
“We wouldn't be here without our customers so thank you to everyone who's visited our shop over the years. Our team is very proud of our role in the town.”
Mark Lovell said: “Over the last 10 years we have seen many changes and navigated many hurdles. Covid being the biggest one, but we are so thankful for our great team and customers who continue to work hard and support us."
“We are very proud to be going strong after 10 years and look forward to our exciting new shop fit next year as we push forward.”
The shop has training scheme taking on students from West Suffolk College’s Barbering courses which partnered with Mr Barbers back in 2018.
The partnership enables students to become work-ready before the students complete their qualifications offering them apprenticeships in shops and giving them hand-on work experience.
The Angel Hill shop has helped seven young people to become fully-qualified barbers and is currently training two young professionals who are on their way to finishing their
qualifications with very high marks.
The team have also completed mental health training with 12th Man, a men’s mental health charity, enabling their barbers to offer support and a person to talk to for their clients.
Over the past 10 years, Mr Barbers Angel Hill has supported charities including Macmillians Cancer Care and Alzheimer’s UK.
A recent charity walk in the Jurassic Coast involving three members, also raised over £7,500 for 12th Man charity.
