Mid Suffolk District Council decision due on 44 new homes in Stradbroke nearly a decade since permission for similar proposal

A decision is due on plans for 44 new homes in a village almost a decade since permission was granted for a similar proposal.

Mid Suffolk's planning committee members will meet next Wednesday to discuss a bid submitted by M and D Developments to build 44 new homes at Grove Farm, in Queen Street, Stradbroke.

The 3.46-hectare development would include new build homes as well as the conversion of two existing barns.

The bid follows plans for the same number of homes approved in March 2016, but were never implemented.

If approved, the development would include 15 affordable homes secured through a legal agreement.

M and D Developments would need to pay £712,611 in developer contributions to be used to construct an early years new build, as well as primary, secondary sixth form provision expansions.

The county council's highways department has requested a further £10,000 to enhance the nearest bus stops, which officers have included as a condition in their approval recommendation.

Stradbroke Parish Council initially objected, but the latest comments are still expected following the submission of updated comments.

A total of four objections from residents were received, which included concerns over the overdevelopment of the area, the lack of services and the impact on traffic.

Officers have concluded the impacts from the development could be mitigated by the conditions attached to the application.
