Multiple fire crews from Suffolk and Norfolk attend house in Roydon, near Diss, after lightning strike




A house which was struck by lightning and caught fire was attended to by number of crews from Suffolk and Norfolk yesterday.

The home in Linden Grove, Roydon, in south Norfolk, which was set alight by the strike, was attended to by units from Diss, Harleston, Thetford, Attleborough, Needham Market and Bungay.

Also in attendance to the incident, which started at 2.30pm, was an aerial ladder platform from North Earlham, a water carrier from Hethersett, as well as officers from Norfolk Police.

The occupants of the house, who were believed to be inside the property when the lightning struck, were evacuated and the street was closed off while crews tackled the fire in the property’s roof.

The incident was dealt with by 4.29pm.
