Firefighters tackle large blaze in ‘well alight’ barns in Langton Green, Eye, off of the B1077 near the airfield





People living near a barn fire are being asked to stay indoors and keep their windows closed, as six crews battle the blaze.

Firefighters are on the scene fighting a large blaze in two barns near an Eye industrial estate.

A fire service spokesperson described the barns in Langton Green, off of the B1077 near the airfield, as being ‘well alight’.

Crews were called to the scene at 9.22am, with six engines – two from Norfolk, two from Beccles, one from Framlingham and one from Leiston – now in attendance.

The barns, measuring 40 metres by 15 metres, contained bailed straw.

The public have been asked to avoid the area and those living nearby are being asked to stay indoors and keep their windows closed.

The blaze is now being left to burn under the supervision of crews, with firefighters expected to be at the scene for some time, the spokesperson added.

The incident is ongoing.
