Redlingfield resident describes the chaos Storm Babet brought to his Suffolk village





“Storm Babet really did a number on my little area of Suffolk

These are the words of Redlingfield resident Mike Ager.

Mr Ager described water levels of 4ft plus as Storm Babet hit yesterday.

He said: “Three houses flooded and wrecked with homeowners staying with other villagers or their families.

“Cars were abandoned; fire brigade rescued one driver; countless cars and vans rescued by villagers and farmers with their tractors taking people through floods.

“People trying to get to friends and family or homes in Bedingfield, Earl Soham, Worlingworth turned back.”

Mr Ager added: “Occold flooded with the Beaconsfield Arms car park and half the pub under water; Horham cut off.

“Highways tanker should be coming to Redlingfield to pump out water from homes but 600 on list before us.

“Mid Suffolk also looking at providing temporary accommodation for villagers who are effectively homeless; villagers taking strangers; people who have lived here all their lives have never seen it this bad.

“People who came to rescue friends, spouse, stranded.”
