Citizens Advice West Suffolk find nearly 80 per cent of people in East of England have been targeted by a scam in 2022
Nearly 80 per cent of people living in the East of England have been targeted by a scam so far this year.
As the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect residents, new research by Citizens Advide West Suffolk has found 79 per cent of people living in the region have been targeted by scammers.
Of those people targeted, the top five most commons scams include for banking, rebates and refunds, Government or HMRC scams.
Over 50 per cent of the people quizzed also said they had also reported delivery, postal or courier service scammers.
Carol Eagles, chief executive of Citizens Advice West Suffolk, said: “A shocking number of people in the East of England have been targeted by a scammer so far this year.
"We know scammers prey on our worries and fears, sadly the cost-of-living crisis is no exception.
"Anyone can be targeted by a scam, and as the purse strings are tightened and financial pressures pile on, it’s important we work together to protect ourselves and each other.”
