Candlet Road in Felixstowe to shut for eight weeks to build roundabout as part of Bloor Homes development
Eight weeks of roadworks are set to begin on a busy road on the outskirts of Felixstowe next month.
Candlet Road will be closed from September 9 to November 10 to allow workers to build a new roundabout plus highways improvements.
It will be shut from the junction with the A14 to Cowpasture Drive.
It forms part of wider plans to build hundreds of homes.
The development is being led by Bloor Homes and will see 368 of 2,000 homes built in the north of the town.
A four mile diversion will be in place for the duration of the work.
Motorists should stay on the A14 before taking the roundabout onto Walton Avenue.
From there, they should travel down Langer Road and onto Garrison Lane before rejoining Candlet Road at the junction with Grove Road.
This is reversed for those travelling in the opposite direction.
A spokeswoman for Bloor Homes said: “While the planned road closure and diversion will go ahead during this timeframe, there will be an emergency access route which will be available at all times, should the Dock Spur Road be closed, upon the request of the Highway Authority.
“We are seeking to complete the roadworks with as little disruption as possible in order to reopen the road as soon as we are able to.”
