Emergency services were alerted at about 2.30pm after reports of a collision involving a white Nissan GTR and a pedestrian, later revealed to be Ms Kinsey.

In a statement, Ms Kinsey’s family paid tribute to her.

It read: "Mary was a loving wife to husband Ken and mother to sons Mark and Jonathan.

"She enjoyed meeting her friends and going for walks along the Prom in her hometown. Mary was caring and loved helping other people.

"A keen gardener, she spent a lot of time tending her plants, while she had previously been a keen badminton player.

"Mary was taken from us in a terrible collision and will sadly be missed by so many."

Following the incident, 18-year-old Lewis Meadows, of Cliff Road, Felixstowe, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He was also accused of aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a collision, using a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to report a collision.

Meadows was originally taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment, before being arrested and questioned at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

He first appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich last Thursday before being bailed ahead of an appearance at Ipswich Crown Court on December 19.

Investigations into the crash continue.
