Residents in Felixstowe urged to take care as flood alert in place

A flood alert is in place as coastal roads and footpaths are likely to be affected due to high spring tides.

Flooding along the Suffolk coast, from Felixstowe to Clacton, is likely between 2.30am and 4:30am tomorrow.

The flood gates at Felixstowe seafront will be closed and the Environment Agency will be monitoring the situation.

The waterfront at Pin Mill and The Strand at Wherstead under the Orwell Bridge may also be flooded.

A series of high spring tides have reached its peak but is expected to fall away over the next few days.

Residents are being urged to take care on coastal roads and footpaths and to not put themselves in any unnecessary danger.
