Charities gear up for shopping spree in Felixstowe ahead of Cheese and Wine Gala for town mayor charities

Charities are set to go on a bargain hunt-style shopping spree in Felixstowe ahead of a new gala auction.

It will see 10 organisations head out to shops in the town on Saturday, August 31, with the aim of buying items to turn a profit at the Cheese and Wine Gala on September 5.

The hunt will start from the Triangle, in Hamilton Road, at 10.30am and each team will have just two hours to spend £100.

The items will be auctioned off at the gala, which has been organised by the town mayor’s chosen charities of the year – Breast Friends CIC and Languard Trust.

Cllr Rowe hopes Felixstowe residents would cheer on the charity shoppers and support the auction.

“This is a new event for Felixstowe and it should be a lot of fun for everyone involved,” he said.

“Spending money in the town will not only benefit the shops and shine a light on our town centre, but hopefully turn up some great lots for the auction.

“We really hope everyone gets into the spirit of the occasion and help raise the profile of our great town and all the charities involved.”

The shopping spree could see up to £1,000 spent in local shops.
