Felixstowe man, 28, arrested on suspicion of murder after police find man dead at Carr Road property





A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found a man dead at a town property.

Officers attended reports of an assault on the seafront promenade in Undercliff Road West, Felixstowe, at 9.20pm on Saturday where one person was believed to have been injured.

Police were then called to a property in Carr Road by the ambulance service at 10.30am the following day, where a man in his 20s was found dead.

Preliminary results of a Home Office post-mortem exam, which took place today, indicate the cause of death was a traumatic head injury.

Officers arrested the 28-year-old man, of Felixstowe, yesterday evening on suspicion of murder.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

Detective Inspector Mark Hughes said: “Investigations into the man’s death continue. Detectives are making inquiries, looking into the circumstances of the altercation and identifying those in the area at the time that may be able to assist with the investigation.

“It is important to note that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to members of the public.”

Det Insp Hughes added officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the assault on the seafront or may have other information that would help the investigation.

Anyone with information, CCTV or video doorbell footage from between Ranelagh Road and Undercliff Road West, or who may have been driving in the area between 8.30pm and 9.20pm, should contact the force, quoting reference 37/45286/24.
