Walton Recreation Park, in Exmoor Road, and Seaton Park Playingfield, in Cornwall Road, Felixstowe, set to undergo £100,000 revamp
New equipment is set to be installed at two Felixstowe parks after £100,000 was allocated to revamp the play areas.
The town council approved funding for a complete refurbishment of Walton Recreation Park, in Exmoor Road, and Seaton Park Playingfield, in Cornwall Road.
The design details are yet to be finalised, but equipment at both play areas will include new swings, climbing frames and facilities for people with disabilities.
Work is set to start in the new year, and the town mayor, Cllr David Rowe, hopes they will be ready for use by spring/summer.
He said: “There are a lot of children living in and around the parks who we believe are currently using the equipment, so it would be better if they’re using the most up-to-date facilites.
“I think its a good use and the right use of the money that will benefit all the children in the community.
“The play equipment at those parks is in its most run-down state, so this is a much-needed refurbishment.”
The revamp is part of an ongoing commitment by both East Suffolk Council and the town council to enhance local facilities.
Last year, play areas at Gosford Way Park and Allenby Park opened after a £265,000 refurbishment.
The project will be managed by the district council, who own both sites.
